This was a Thanksgiving Day hike in which I woke up to go for a hike prior to starting to cook a Thanksgiving feast.  Expecting this to be an emotionally tough holiday, I thought it would be good to start it early and with a purpose, exercising and some nice outdoors.

This was an overcast hike that turned into one of my favorite hikes.  It started by a campground that is close to the beach and I first headed up into the surrounding hills/mountains.  There were nice trails and formations and then some little valleys near the top and a lake/pond.  It hit the cloud layer and become socked in with clouds and it was amazing.  It was serene, peaceful and disorienting.  Many of the trails looped up where I was and it was a challenge to find the right path to take to get back down when you can only see a couple dozen of feet out.  I really enjoyed hiking up in that area.  Upon return back down, I continued onto the coastline which was on the other side of PCH from the campground.  This is definitely a close campground I would consider going to for 'beach" camping.  One thing to not is that there were not too many trees on the trail up; just in the campground and then up in the flats on top.

This was a nice hike in the Malibu Creek State Park area though not in the same parking lot; this was based out of a tiny lot that is a pull out from the main road.  Stumbled across a  cross at the end of my hike that 25 students from Pepperdine were hiking to for a devotion.  When I arrived back at the parking lot, two different cars had a window smashed in attempted burglaries.  Gave plastic bags and gloves to two individuals to try to help clean up their mess.  It was a beautiful day and hike was really unfortunate for them to end their day that way.  There was a deputy there but likely no one would be caught.
